The Shafers
Our names are Jack & Marcia Shafer. We are offering Premier Vacation Rentals in the beautiful Rocky Mountain High Country. The High Rockies offer year-round opportunities for family gatherings, recreation, relaxation and a myriad of sports activities. Whether you are interested in Skiing/Snowboarding, Hiking, Mountain Biking, Mountain Climbing, 14'ers, Fishing, and much more; we hope you will consider allowing us to host your for your Colorado adventure.
Our Story
Marcia and I were the fifth generation on our small family farm. The oak trees in the picture were planted from acorns by my Great, Great Grandmother in 1892. Marcia and I were married in 1973 at age 19 and we moved away from the farm for a few years. As my dad grew older he saw no one showing interest in continuing to farm our land. In the 1980's I left my HVAC business and we moved home where I farmed along my dad. I cherish those years working alongside my dad until his health declined, with me taking over the farm. I made a commitment to myself that Mom and Dad would be able to live out their lives on the farm as the generations before them had. Marcia worked off the farm for decades through many tough times and lean years as we honored the commitment we had made. As the years went by it became increasingly difficult for small farms such as ours to survive financially.
With Mom and Dad Gone, our son Kevin making the wise decision not to try to continue farming our farm; and with Marcia and I now entering our retirement years; the time had come for us to start a new chapter in our life's journey.
With much thought and sadness, yet with excitement and anticipation, we sold our family farm property and have embarked on a new adventure together. We continue to look forward to whatever this new adventure has in store for us. We moved to Colorado to be near our son and grandchildren and are enjoying the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. We have invested the proceeds from our family farm into new properties here and hope we can bring the same joy we find here with many families as they vacation here in Summit County.

They go above and beyond in making you, our guests, feel welcome and taking care of any needs you may have during your stay with us.
